Ever thought about making your own deodorant? Sounds weird, but it's something that has been gaining quite a bit of popularity over the last few years. With rising concerns in health and products that contain unhealthy ingredients, people are turning to more creative ways to combat body odor. One the main obstacles that people first assume is that it is difficult to do. Actually it's quite the opposite. Homemade deodorants can be made using common ingredients found in most people's homes. It's also a fun and rewarding thing to do as a hobby or in your spare time.

There are tons of recipes and different methods that can be easily found by doing a quick Internet search. The most common ingredients used include baking soda, corn starch, baby powder, glycerin base, shea/coco butter and some type of natural oil for scent. I've personally tried several combinations using lavender oil, aloe vera and tea tree oil with great success. In fact I still use it til this day.

The primary reason for DIY'ing your deodorant is that you have complete control over what goes into it. Often times deodorants contain aluminum, parabens, triclosan and other harsh chemicals that don't mingle well with our bodies. Making your own natural deodorant allows you to keep these things away from your body while utilizing the power of nature to keep you fresh and smelling great throughout the day.

If you get really good and your deodorants gain a following, some people even sell their homemade creations for an extra bit of pocket change!
